Basketball Intramural Champions Crowned

The intramural basketball championship games were Friday, marking the end of the quarter’s season. Green Street Elite took the championship, followed by a net-cutting ceremony.

Here’s a look at the day’s games:

Green Street Elite and Old School had a first round bye, meaning they played the winners of the first round.

The Chinese Student Association (CSA) beat Brick Squad 44-42 for the first championship game of the day. Houliang Huang racked up 17 points that game with nine rebounds. Weineng Ma sank seven free throws in the second half. Brick Squad’s Sean McCarthy led with 14 points, while Kyle Drew managed 10 rebounds. CSA went on to play Green Street Elite.

Campus Bullies won against Tuna Roll 66-52. Michael Rickett pulled 14 points for the Campus Bullies, with Jarvis Turner landing five rebounds. Tuna Roll’s Keanu Ross and Jeffery Tindi led with 12 points and four rebounds that game. Campus Bullies went on to play Old School.

Green Street Elite squeezed out a 42-40 win over CSA in the playoffs. Taron Jordon put up 14 points that game with both Jake Green and Steven Frody managing six rebounds for Green Street Elite. CSA’s Weineng Ma led with 10 points and Houliang Huang landed nine rebounds. Green Street would go on to play the winner of Campus Bullies vs. Old School.

Old School beat out Campus Bullies in the playoffs 62-49. Tyler Burton managed 13 points, with Corey Evens getting eight rebounds for Old School. Campus Bullies’s Jordan Dallman led his team in points and rebounds with 15 and nine, respectively. Old School went on to play Green Street Elite for the championship game.

Green Street Elite took the championship game over Old School 58-54, in a fast-paced and aggressive game. Dario Ortego led Green Street Elite in points with 17. Old School’s Mark Godoy put up 16 points, with teammate Eddie Concepcion managing an impressive 14 rebounds.
