The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department launches new Web site

The SCMPD launched a redesigned scmpd.org last week. The site features a bevy of new features to help the citizens of Savannah. Among them are the Web site’s easier navigation and layout, a “Daily Significant Incident Report,” and they’re using TWITTER to text or email alerts to users who sign up for the service. They’ve also created the METRO CopBlog that the department uses to keep citizens informed.

City of Savannah Delegation leaves for China

The delegation will spend nine days in China developing economic ties and formalizing a Sister City agreement with Jiujiang City (Map) in the Jiangxi Province. The formalization completes the Sister City Letter of Intent that was signed in the spring when a delegation from Jiujiang came to Savannah.

The delegation is comprised of Mayor Otis Johnson, aldermen Edna Jackson and Van R. Johnson, City Manager Michael Brown and representatives from the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Savannah River Landing.

Members will blog each day’s events on a special blog on the City’s Web site.
