College Security Report Apr. 25-May 1, 2011
April 25
11:05 a.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident at Morris Hall involving a student vehicle and a vehicle driven by a non-SCAD individual. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report. There were no injuries reported.
1:40 p.m. — A professor attempted to bring a bike into a SCAD building. Security explained to the professor that bikes were not allowed inside, but the professor stated that the bike was too expensive to leave outside and she proceeded to her classroom. The building manager informed security that she would speak to the professor about the situation.
4:30 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Arnold Hall between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
April 26
9:30 a.m. — A student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the rear bike rack at Oglethorpe House. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
3:22 p.m. — Security responded to Turner House at the request of the resident director. The RD stated that she smelled marijuana coming from a particular room and, consequently, conducted a room check. Two empty Bud Light cases, one empty Captain Morgan bottle, two pipes and 5 and one half hydrocodone pills were found in the room. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and took possession of the items. Police issued a crime report.
7:11 p.m. — A student reported to security that her cell phone was missing from her purse. The student stated that she left her purse in a room of Eckburg Hall at 11 a.m. When she returned to the room at 5 p.m. her purse was open and the cell phone was missing.
9:20 p.m. — Security responded to an elevator entrapment at Turner House. The elevator technician was on site at 10:08 p.m. and the students were let out of the elevator.
April 27
10:11 a.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Arnold Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
11 a.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident at Alexander Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report. No injuries were reported.
April 28
2:11 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Turner House. Maintenance was working on the system and caused the false alarm.
4:55 p.m. — Security responded to a hit and run vehicle accident at Oglethorpe House. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report. No injuries were reported.
11:26 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Boundary Village. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined a student cooking in the room had caused the alarm.
April 29
6:41 a.m. — Security responded to Pulaski House in reference to a student that had been bitten by a spider. The student stated he did not need immediate medical attention and would go to the SCAD clinic in the morning.
11:30 a.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Abercorn Terrace. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where a student taking a shower was determined to have caused the alarm.
7:20 p.m. — Security received a call from a student requesting to speak with the on-call counselor. Security contacted the counselor and passed on all contact information.
10:07 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Boundary Village. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm caused by a student cooking in the dorm.
10:17 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Boundary Village. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where a student cooking in the dorm was determined to have caused the alarm.
April 30
8 a.m. — Security discovered numerous instances of Graffiti. A white marker was used on the windows of vehicles parked in the Dyson Lot.
2:45 p.m. — Security responded to vehicle accident involving tour bus and a student on a bicycle at the intersection of Montgomery Street and Oglethorpe Avenue. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police and EMS responded to the scene. The student was transported to Memorial University Medical Center. Police issued a crime report.
11:26 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Boundary Village. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that a student cooking in the room caused the alarm.
May 1
8 a.m. — Security discovered numerous instances of Graffiti on the windows of vehicles parked in the Dyson Lot. The graffiti was drawn with a white marker on the windows of the vehicles.
9 a.m. — Security discovered that the sign at Oglethorpe House had the letters rearranged.
3:30 p.m. — Security responded to an elevator entrapment at Turner House. Atlantic Coast Elevator responded to the scene and released the student.
4:38 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Abercorn Terrace. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that a student taking a shower caused the alarm.
