College Security report: Aug. 10-23, 2012

Aug. 10

8:28 p.m. — Security discovered eight dorms at Barnard Village were unsecured. Security secured the doors.

10:28 p.m. — Security discovered five dorms at Weston House were unsecured. Security secured the doors.

Aug. 11

1:46 a.m. — Security discovered the main door to Streamliner Diner was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and then secured the door.

3 a.m. — Security responded to a report of an intoxicated student at Turner House. The student stated that he had been drinking at a friend’s house and had forgotten his ID. The student was confirmed to be on the roster and was escorted to his dorm by his roommate.

6:36 p.m. — Security discovered the light door to Morris Hall was unsecured. Security notified maintenance and they responded to secure the door.

6:40 p.m. — Security discovered the front door to Crites Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and then secured the door.

8:05 p.m. — Security discovered two dorms at Barnard Village were unsecured. Security secured the doors.

9:46 p.m. — Security discovered the front door to Pulaski House was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and then secured the door.

10:51 p.m. — Security discovered the rear entrance door to Arnold Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and then secured the door.

Aug. 12

7:51 p.m. — Security discovered the rear maintenance and rear loading dock door to Arnold Hall were unsecured. Security patrolled the building and then secured the doors.

Aug. 13

1:51 a.m. — Security discovered graffiti on the west side of Fahm Hall. A work order was placed to have maintenance remove the graffiti.

1:51 a.m. — Security discovered graffiti on the north side of Norris Hall. A work order was placed to have maintenance remove the graffiti.

5:36 p.m. — Security discovered the external maintenance door at Arnold Hall was unsecured. Security notified maintenance of the unsecured door.

Aug. 14

1:50 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from her off-campus apartment. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

5:25 p.m. — Security responded to an alarm at a room in Barnard Village. The alarm was determined to be false and was reset.

7:40 p.m. — Security discovered the external maintenance door at Arnold Hall was unsecured. Security notified maintenance of the unsecured door.

9:52 p.m. — Security discovered the south side door to Bobbie’s Diner was unsecured. Extra patrols of the building were conducted until the staff arrived.

Aug. 15

8 p.m. — Security discovered four dorms at Weston House were unsecured. Security secured the doors.

8:30 p.m. — Security discovered two dorms at Dyson House were unsecured. Security secured the doors.

Aug. 16

1:23 a.m. — Security received a call from a SCAD student requesting to speak with the on-call counselor. Security called the counselor and passed on the student’s contact information.

1:56 a.m. — Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to have been caused by a dead smoke detector battery. A maintenance work order was placed to have the battery replaced.

8:10 p.m. — Security discovered three dorms at Boundary Village were unsecured. Security secured the doors.

9:07 p.m. — Security responded to a power failure alarm activation at Turner House. The alarm was silenced and a work order was placed with maintenance to have the system checked.

Aug. 17

2:49 a.m. — Security responded to a trouble alarm at a dorm in  Abercorn Terrace. It was determined that the alarm had been caused by a dead battery in the smoke detector. A work order was placed to have maintenance check the detector.

Aug. 18

3:30 a.m. — Security responded to a report of an intoxicated man at Boundary Village. The man had run into the dorm area from Boundary Street and appeared to be highly intoxicated. The individual stated that he thought that these were the Armstrong Atlantic State University dorms. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and escorted the individual home.

4:25 p.m. — Security responded to the report of a suspicious odor of smoke at Eichberg Hall. The Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the smell had come from excessive dust in the HVAC system.

Aug. 19

3:36 a.m. — Security discovered the rear maintenance door to Arnold Hall was unsecured. Maintenance was notified of the unsecured door.

7:56 p.m. — Security discovered the west emergency exit at Anderson Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and then secured the doors.

Aug. 20

10 a.m. — Security responded to a theft report at the Barnard and Liberty parking lot involving two vehicles that had their windows broken and several small items stolen. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and handled the incident.

Aug. 21

No activity was reported.

Aug. 22

12:50 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his bicycle tire had been stolen from his bike as it was secured on the Gulfstream bike rack between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Aug. 21. The student did not want to file a police report.

6 a.m. — An Ex Libris employee notified security that there was smoke coming from the basement of the building. The Savannah Fire Department and security responded to the scene and determined that the smoke was coming from the elevator motor. Atlantic Coast Elevator responded to the scene to take the elevator out of service and to make repairs.

Aug. 23

No activity was reported.
