College Security Report: Aug. 5-11, 2008

Aug. 6

10:52 a.m.—Security responded to a smoke alarm activation at Oglethorpe House. Security met Savannah Fire Department personnel on site and, upon investigation, it was determined that the alarm was caused by contractors pressure washing in the kitchen. The alarm was cleared and reset.

11:20 a.m.—Security discovered the front door to Granite Hall was malfunctioning. The door was not automatically securing on the card access system. The security manager was notified.

Aug. 8

10:50 a.m.—Security responded to a vehicle accident at the York Hall parking lot. A SCAD student accidentally hit another vehicle in the parking lot. Police responded to the scene and generated a report.

Aug. 9

5:59 p.m.—Security discovered a back door to York Hall was unsecured. A walk through of the building was conducted and the door was secured.

Aug. 11

7 a.m.—An employee of the janitorial services contractor informed security that there was a broken window at Smithfield Cottage. Police responded to the scene and generated a report. The janitorial services company was notified to provide clean up.

11:20 a.m.—Security responded to a medical call at Eckburg Hall. A SCAD student had accidentally swallowed a stick pin and it was lodged in her throat. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
