College Security Report: Nov. 15-19, 2008

Nov. 15

12:49 a.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation at room at Barnard Village.  Upon investigation it was determined to be a false alarm and there was no smoke present.  Security silenced and reset the alarm.

1:35 a.m.—Security discovered a fire door at Alexander Hall was unsecured.  A patrol of the building was conducted and the door was secured.

4:15 a.m.— Security discovered the glass on fire pull stations at Turner House had been broken. The janitorial services company was notified to clean up the glass.

10 a.m.—Security was notified by a student that the fire door at the back of Boundary Hall was unsecured.  Security responded to the scene and conducted a building patrol prior to securing the door.

1:31 p.m.—Security was notified that a student was stuck in the elevator on the second floor of the Student Center. Atlantic Coast Elevator services responded to the scene 30 minutes later and let the student out of the elevator.

7:53 p.m.—The father of a SCAD student reported to security that his son had been punched in the face at an off-campus party and that he wanted the other student charged.  Security, EMS and police responded to student’s dorm room. He stated that he had been punched in the nose and lip by fellow student while at an off- campus location the previous evening. He was evaluated by EMS and was not transported for treatment. Police issued a report.

Nov. 16

12:55 a.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation at Barnard Village. Upon investigation it was determined to be a false alarm and that there was no smoke present.  Security silenced and reset the alarm.

6:10 a.m.—Security discovered a non-SCAD individual loitering in the Eichberg parking lot.  The individual left the scene when he saw security approaching.  A patrol of the lot was was conducted.

Nov. 17

11:11 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at a room in Turner House. A SCAD student had cut his left thumb with a box cutter while working on a project.  EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial Health University Medical Center.

12:30 p.m.—Security responded to vehicle collision in the parking lot at Barnard and Liberty streets.  A SCAD employee stated that he had accidentally struck another vehicle while he was in the lot.  Police notified of the incident.

Nov. 18

No activity reported.

Nov. 19

4:17 a.m.— A  student reported to security that someone had broken the driver’s side window of his vehicle while it was parked at Gulfstream. He stated that he did not believe that any items were taken from the vehicle. Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

9:20 a.m.—Security responded to a medical call at Eckburg Hall. A SCAD student was suffering from a severe nose bleed. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial Health University Medical Center.

3:44 p.m.—A SCAD student security that her roommate had been stealing items from her. She stated that the resident director had already been notified and that the RD was able to get her items returned. She wanted a report done so that the issue could be directed to judicial affairs.

6:02 p.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation at Eckburg Hall. Security investigated the scene and determined it was a false alarm. The alarm was silenced and reset.

10:24 p.m.—Security responded to a medical call at Oglethorpe House.  Upon arrival at the scene it was determined that the injured student had already been transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center by a friend. Security notified on call manager, the resident director, the resident assistant and Police about the incident. The on call counselor met the student at the hospital.

11:10 p.m.—Security discovered the handicapped-accessible entrance to York Hall was unsecured.  A patrol of the building was conducted and the door was secured.
