Cranes pass through Savannah

The vessel Tern carried four cranes destined for the Garden City Terminal up the Savannah River today.

The U.S. Coast Guard enforced a safety zone two miles ahead of, and one mile behind the vessel for the safety of other vessels due to the nature of the positioning of the cranes on the Tern. The zone was enforced by the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary and Savannah Chatham Marine Patrol.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police closed the Talmadge Bridge from 9:30-10 a.m. while the cranes passed underneath.
