Dancing around the subjects: Senior Soiree 2012

Seniors presented their project ideas this weekend in hopes of receiving help during the Third annual Senior Soiree. Interested students could sign onto projects to help their fellow art students and gain experience.

Patty Henke, the assistant director of residential programs who was behind the event, said the soiree is a “One stop shop. It’s a way for the students to be able in one location one time slot to be able to get a lot of people who are interested in their project sign, where before they used to have to do advertisements ask around and try to recruit all the different members.”

Soyeon Park, a graduate animation student from South Korea, was back for her fourth time looking for students to help on her animated film.

“For me, I learned a lot how to make films with other people and then collaborate. It’s sometimes frustrating, but hey, when you have a very successfully animated film it’s joyful and you can have a lot of fun with lots of different people.”

Courtney Roth, a senior film and television major from Cleveland, Ohio, was there to gain interest in her own senior film.

“It helps just by gaining that community by getting that sense of camaraderie to know that we’re not against each other especially with film and the Scademmies — that we’re all here to help each other and were not fighting for people.”
