E Shaver Booksellers offer unique book clubs

Savannah’s oldest bookstore, E Shaver Booksellers, hosts multiple book clubs each month for those interested in connecting with other book lovers. Here’s a look at what some of them are:

  1. The Feminist Book Club

This book club is currently reading through “This Will Be My Undoing” by Morgan Jenkins. The book is a collection of essays that connect Jenkins’ commentary on pop culture, feminism, misogyny, black history, and racism to ultimately portray the struggles black women face today. Their next meeting is Nov. 11 from 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m.

  • Sci-Fi and Fantasy Book Club

This book club is currently reading through “Red Mars” by Kim Stanley Robinson. Award-winning author Robinson creates the first work in a trilogy about the colonization of Mars with this novel. Their next meeting is Nov. 11 from 4:30 p.m.-5:30p.m.

  • Happy Hour Book Club

This book club is currently reading through “On Trails” by Robert Moor. In this debut New York Times bestselling work, Moor ambitiously connects the paths that lie beneath our feet, from ant trails to the Appalachian Trail to the Internet. Their next meeting is Nov. 13 from 6:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m.

  • Lost in a Great Book Book Club

This book club is currently reading through “Glass Houses” by Louise Penny. In this latest installment of the Gamache series, Armand Gamache and the residents of Three Pines are confronted by a mysterious figure one cold November day. Day by day, rain or shine, the figure doesn’t move. Until it vanishes overnight and a body is discovered the next day. Their next meeting is Nov. 20 from 6:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m.

  • Graphic Novel Book Club

This book club is currently reading through “Spinning” by Tillie Walden. Tillie Walden’s life used to revolve around figure skating. It was only until she moved to a new school that her perspective was challenged. With her new life crashing into her old, Walden had to confront what she really considered to be her identity. Their next meeting is Nov. 25 from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
