In Brief: Savannah Children’s Book Festival returns

The 5th Annual Savannah Children’s Book Festival will take place Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Forsyth Park. The event is sponsored by the Live Oak Public Library and the City of Savannah; it includes author and illustrator presentations, crafts, book signings, children’s theater, and readers’ theater. Marc Brown, creator of “Arthur” and Mo Willems, of Cartoon Network’s “Sheep in the Big City” and “Codename: Kids Next Door” will be on the main stage at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively. Other guests include Mike Thaler, of The Black Lagoon and Electric Company series. A teen tent will feature anime and manga activities as well as an architecture competition to construct a three-dimensional piece using provided library books. The international tent features drummer and storyteller, J’miah Nabawi. Food vendors on site vary from Chik-Fil-A to Lulu’s Chocolate Bar. Costumed characters include Arthur, Frog and Toad, and Corduroy.
