Karma for canned good donations

With dorm rooms and apartments vacant for the next few weeks, most food will sit untouched until school starts back up in January. What to do with all of those canned goods you bought during Kroger’s 10 for $10 sale, you say? Well lucky for you, we’ve comprised a list of organizations accepting canned good donations for you to donate those unwanted, non-perishable food items.

SCAD Campus – Various Locations

SCAD’s own United Student Forum has set up barrels in three separate locations around campus for your donating pleasure. Locations include The Hive, the Oglethorpe House lobby and Barnard Village. You can also drop off at the student center, as well as the student involvement office. All donations will benefit the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, and will be accepted until November 15. For more information contact USF at usf@scad.edu or visit blog.scad.edu/usf.

Jen Library

All SCAD community members can have their library fines waived in exchange for food donations until November 15. A one-to-one ratio of nonperishable food items to overdue books applies; 10 nonperishable food items donated at the service desk in the library waives 10 overdue items. These donations cannot be used for the replacement of lost books or fines related to Interlibrary Loan. Savannah donations will serve America’s Second Harvest and Atlanta donations will serve the Atlanta Community Food Bank. For more information, contact Mike Varin at 404-253-6085 or mvarin@scad.edu.

Brown Chiropractic & Whitemarsh Chiropractic

Brown Chiropractic & Whitemarsh Chiropractic is accepting donations until December 24. Everyone who donates will receive two minutes of relaxing HydroMassage for every item donated. Donations should be made at Brown Chiropractic at 513 E. Oglethorpe Ave., Ste O. or at Whitemarsh Chiropractic at 115-A Charlotte Rd.
