Last minute costume ideas for Masquerade Ball

This upcoming weekend, the Student Activities Council will be hosting the annual masquerade ball. The theme this year is Phantom Waltz, but if you’re not the type to go all out with your costume, don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! Here are some quick, easy and inexpensive costume ideas!

  • Jelly Fish
    • Materials:
      • Umbrella
      • Tape
      • Scissors
      • String or Streamers
      • Tissue Paper
  • Instructions:
    • Use tape to fill the hollow space of the umbrella with tissue paper. The more colorful the better! Tape string and/or streamers to the edge of the umbrella, like tentacles. For an extra touch of awesomeness, you can tape battery powered LED strips to the inside of your jellyfish!
  • Paper Doll:
    • Materials:
      • Cardboard
      • Paint
      • Brush
      • Scissors or X-Acto knife
      • String or elastic
      • Tape
  • Instructions:
    • Cut out the shape of the paper doll outfit you’d like to wear (dress, shirt, shorts, etc).
    • Paint your outfit.
    • Tape string or elastic bands to the back edges of the cardboard so that you can tie it around you like an apron.
  • Candy Corn
    • Materials:
      • White hat or beanie
      • Orange shirt
      • Yellow shirt
      • Scissors
  • Instructions:
    • Cut the orange shirt in half.
    • Wear the orange shirt on top of the yellow shirt and the white hat on top.
  • Color Wheel (Group Costume)
    • Materials:
      • Colored paper
      • Scissors
      • Tape
      • Hair tie or rubber band
  • Instructions:
    • Cut the colors of the color wheel into triangles or teardrop shapes.
    • Tape hair ties or rubber bands to the back, so that the colors can be worn on the wrists.
    • Wear with three or more friends!
  • 404 Error
    • Materials:
      • Hat
      • Tape
      • Marker
  • Instructions:
    • For the person who really doesn’t want to dress up.
    • Use a marker to write Error 404 on a piece of tape.
    • Put the tape on the hat.
    • Wear it.
  • Micron Pen (Group Costume)
    • Materials:
      • Beige Shirt
      • Marker
  • Instructions:
    • Use a marker to write to write “Micron” on the front of the shirt.
    • Write the thickness on the sleeves.
    • To make it a group costume, get some friends together, and write the different thicknesses on your sleeves.
  • LaCroix Water
    • Materials:
      • Tie-Dye Shirt
      • Marker
  • Instructions:
    • With a marker, write LaCroix Water on your tie-dye shirt.
  • Mango Bus:
    • Materials:
      • Cardboard    
      • Scissors
      • Tape
      • Marker
      • Colored Paper
  • Instructions:
    • Get a small cardboard box.Either with paint or colored paper create the front of a bus on the front of your box and label it “Mango”.
