Let’s bounce

You’ve probably felt it over the last week; the tension steadily building as the final week of spring quarter approaches. You may not be eating, sleeping, or doing too much of both to cope with your stress. You feel like you are almost at the finish line, but there are still a few obstacles in your way.

Finals-Relaxing2-e1337975315538Thankfully, the resident advisers at Dyson Hall know all about stress and have developed a program to help alleviate some of your woes, at least for three hours this afternoon.

Starting at 3 p.m. next to the Dyson volleyball court, “Majorly Stressed,” the RA program for spring quarter will be offering a bounce house, music, popcorn, water balloons and therapy dogs.

“I haven’t had time to chill in five weeks,” said Neil Shastri, a sophomore visual effects major and Dyson RA. “My friends want to go to the beach but it’s too far, so this is a good way to relax without having to go anywhere.”

Each quarter RA staff is required to develop a program for students living in their halls. Shastri and Kelsie Flanagan, a sophomore animation student, came up with “Majorly Stressed” together.

When asked about finals, Flanagan stated “They’re good and everybody’s stressed. This is good for everyone.”

Before the 3 p.m. start time students had already begun wandering into the bouncy house and cuddling with therapy dogs, Harley and Bella May. If fun in the sun isn’t quite your thing, Flanagan and Shastri will be showing a movie once the sun begins to set.

“My stress level has been reduced in the five minutes that I’ve been here. The bouncy house is awesome,” said Hannah Pierce, a junior industrial design major. So get up, get out and enjoy the last weekend of spring quarter 2012. That color theory project can wait.
