SCAD Art Sales offers global platform for students

Since 2016, SCAD Art Sales has offered a platform for SCAD undergrad and grad students, alumni, faculty and staff. Curating from various majors including fibers, photography, painting, illustration and printmaking.

I have sold many pieces through SCAD Art Sales,” SCAD alumna, Meredith Pardue said, “In addition to being an inspired group of forward thinkers, the staff at SCAD Art Sales [are] professional and efficient.”

SCAD Art Sales sells to exceptional clients including the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta and the Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah. In the Perry Hotel transaction alone, more than 25 artists created 63 works of art that are now in private rooms and public spaces in the hotel.

Any SCAD affiliated artist capable of demonstrating mastery in their discipline is encouraged to become a contributing artist. Applying for consideration is available through their webpage and requires basic contact information and biography, medium, the year artwork was made, title of the artwork and an image of the artwork.

There are pop-up shops, like Art Central in Hong Kong, and permanent locations, such as the Gutstein Gallery in Savannah, where art can be shown and purchased. SCAD Art Sales not only allows artists to work with them non-exclusively, but has a team working for artists that actively contacts private collectors and business clients from law offices, restaurants and hotels.

Primarily, artwork is sold through the website. In total, between July 2017 to April 2018, more than 500 works of art have been sold through SCAD Art Sales. Current SCAD students are given 75 percent of the total selling price for their work and alumni, faculty and staff receive 50 percent of the price for theirs.
