When the COVID-19 pandemic hit last year, the university’s long-standing spring tradition, SCAD’s Sidewalk Arts Festival, was moved to the virtual space, expanding its reach far beyond the streets of Savannah. Last year’s virtual Sidewalk Arts Festival was a huge success, bringing in hundreds of submissions from all over the world. In order to keep the SCAD community safe, the Sidewalk Arts Festival will once again be conducted virtually, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have the opportunity to win big this year.

The 2021 competition is open to SCAD students, alumni and even prospective high school students with awards including cash prizes of up to $1,500 in various catergories including Spirit, People’s Choice and Best in Show. Participants are able to claim their virtual square online today and must maintain all social distancing guidelines when creating their art. Participants and viewers can get the latest information and updates on the festival by checking out #SCADchalk on Instagram and Twitter, and be sure to leave a like on your favorite entries on the @scaddotedu Instagram page to make your vote count for the Best in Show Award.

All submissions must be received between April 13-27 in .jpeg/.jpg format, and the winners will be announced May 7 at 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. For more information, check out the SCAD website and the official rules. Email events@scad.edu with any questions, and if you are a current high school student interested in submitting, reach out to efindlay@scad.edu for a participation code.
