Savannah’s ghost scene is well known and well explored. When anyone looks up a good tour to take, they’re easily met with lists of top ten ghost tours or best riding and walking tours around Savannah. Here’s a top-five list you won’t get anywhere else, or from anyone else so close to the occult scene, along with some hidden gems.

  1. The Dead of Night Ghost Tour

This tour is one of the few offered by Ghost City Tours. It has a 16 and over restriction, as it deals with the darker side of the paranormal: demons, ghosts, possession and other normal activities. The tour is 90 minutes but also one of the longer walking tours offered around Savannah, held at either 9 p.m. or 11 p.m. The more you walk the streets at night, the more likely you are to witness the true hauntings of Savannah firsthand. Up close and personal.

This tour is another walking tour but with a historical twist. Run by one of Savannah’s biggest history tours, the path takes you through squares like Madison and Colonial cemetery. These spots are the most historically haunted, and walking through them after hours is a unique experience you won’t get anywhere else. Especially secluded in your own world through headphones.

Our last walking tour is from Savannah Ghost Walkers. During this 2.5 hour tour, your “ghost walker” guides you past haunted antebellum homes to battlefields and hidden cemeteries where paranormal events are naturally expected. You can even search for otherworldly activity with your own “ghost-hunting” equipment.

This tour is done by trolley, and is nicknamed “where reality and the supernatural collide.” Even advertised at local witch shops, the tour is ready to impress. This is one of Savannah’s most popular tours by trolley, which is no surprise from the performances given by the tour guides. Dressed to the nines, your guides will take you on a story-led adventure through the history of Savannah from right outside your window.

Our last tour is from Hearse. There’s no way to visit Savannah without seeing the hearse cars driving by with people on top to view the city. This tour is an authentic and haunting tale of history, and a personal driver takes you around the squares to showcase it all. The car itself is an iconic staple of Savannah ghost tour culture and worth the time.
