A homemade remedy for rough hands

By Augusta Statz

Last week, I wrote about combating dry skin in the winter, which, due to the weather, has become a recent interest of mine.

Going along the lines of keeping skin moisturized again this week, I wanted to share a recent recipe that I tried.

With it being flu season, I find myself washing my hands a lot. This can make your hands feel dry and rough. So, I found a homemade remedy for rough hands.

All you need is:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 7 drops of essential oil (optional)
  • 1 bowl
  • 1 spoon

Mix the oil in a bowl until it feels pasty (becoming thick). If using the essential oil, stir it in next. After it is all mixed, gently rub the mixture over your hands.

After a couple of minutes, gently rinse the mixture off of your hands, using warm water.

This quick, inexpensive remedy will leave your hands feeling soft and smooth, helping to combat winter weather and the flu season.
