SCADStyle’s annual summit starts Tuesday

The annual SCADstyle event will be held April 9-11. This year’s events feature innovators, stiletto makers, girl bosses, Gaultier protégés and every cult creative in between. There will be high-octane talks to unfiltered conversations. Today’s top designers will share their stories and style inspiration.

Tuesday April 9:

  • The first event will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the SCAD Museum of Art. The discussion will feature fashion designer and 3-D printing expert Danit Peleg. Join Peleg for a discussion on the advancements of the growing cross-section between fashion and technology.
  • Later that day, at 2:30 p.m. in the SCAD Museum of Art, join Erik Dunshee of Honda R&D, Eileen Hsu of LA Metro, and Dan Raudebaugh of the Center for Transportation and the Environment. They will discuss the latest developments in transportation design and how they shape us.
  • Following that night, at 6 p.m. in the SCAD Museum of Art, extreme experiences designer Nelly Ben Hayoun demonstrates how the human condition will prevail in the digital age.

Wednesday April 10:

  • At 8:30 a.m. in the SCAD Museum of Art, learn how to build your own brand strategy with expert advice from SCAD alumnae entrepreneurs. Join Kristen Baird, Eny Lee Parker, Katy Skelton and Eleanor Turner.
  •  Later that day, at 11:30 a.m. in the SCAD Museum of Art, discover how to break through the billion-dollar beauty business with insight from industry influencers. The discussion will feature Nick Axelrod of Nécessaire, Georgie Greville of Milk Makeup, Michael Marcano of Estée Lauder, Rose-Marie Swift of RMS Beauty, Linda Wells of Flesh Beauty and Celia Ellenberg the beauty director at Vogue will moderate the conversation.
  • At 2:30 p.m. at the SCAD Museum of Art, learn how to market like a millennial with Stacie Brockman of Métier Creative. Join Brockman as she shares the secrets to building brand equity by tapping into today’s trends.
  • At 6 p.m. in Arnold Hall, join Steve Madden at the keynote conversation as he sits down with Aya Kanai, chief fashion director at Hearst Magazines, to discuss his experience in the field.

Thursday April 11:

  • At 8:30 a.m. in the SCAD Museum of Art, learn how to cultivate a career with SCAD alumni José Reyes of Metaleap Creative and Taylor Martin of Design Positive. Nikolle Reyes, vice president and managing director of Metaleap Creative, will moderate the conversation.
  • Later that day, at 11:30 a.m. in the SCAD Museum of Art, find out how to render your vision with architect Goil Amornvivat in conversation with Margaret Russell.
  • At 2:30 p.m. at the SCAD Museum of Art, join Levi Strauss & Co. Historian Tracey Panek as she discusses the practice of, and passion for, personalizing apparel through hand-finished Levi’s.
  • Finally, at 6 p.m. in Arnold Hall, discover how to raise your voice with Out Magazine editor-in-chief, Phillip Picardi. Join Picardi for a candid conversation about representation in media and showing up for social justice.
